Our Mission

Our mission is to serve the people and pets of the greater Stanly County area with compassionate, appropriate, and modern veterinary medicine with an emphasis on preventive wellness care. Our veterinarian strives to ensure each pet they see is treated as if it is their own, prevent as many problems as they can before they begin, and diagnose and treat any problems that may arise as quickly as possible.

Our History

Albemarle Animal Clinic was founded in 1957 by Dr. Bill Dobbs (the first licensed veterinarian in the area), making it the first veterinary clinic in Stanly County.

Dr. Griffin purchased the clinic from Dr. Eugene Morton in 1988. From its inception, Albemarle Animal Clinic has worked diligently to be a leader in veterinary medicine in the region. Albemarle Animal Clinic became the first computerized clinic in the county and has continuously worked to remain on top of the latest technology within the veterinary field. This allows us to better reach, serve, and connect with our ever-growing client base.

Do you take walk-ins?

We accept walk-ins during the doctor’s hours only. Our schedule is as follows:

  • Mon-Wed, Fri: 8am-11am, 2pm-4pm
  • Thu: 8am-10am
  • 3rd Sat Monthly: 8am – 10am
  • Sun: Closed

We accept appointments, but they cannot be scheduled online. Please call us to arrange a time.

Does your clinic handle emergencies?

We do accept emergencies that we are able to care for at our facility. We do recommend calling ahead if you possibly can to find out whether your situation can be handled by our team, or if you would be better served by another facility. Time is of the essence during an emergency, so we want to make sure that you’re going to the correct place. Please note that Urgent Care services are for current clients only.

Is there a doctor on duty over the weekend?

We do not have anyone available on weekends. If you are in need of services when we’re not open, please visit our emergency services page to find local clinics or hospitals that we recommend.

I am sick or an at-risk individual, can I get my pet's prescription online for shipping or pick-up?

Albemarle Animal Clinic is proud to be able to offer our clients the ability to request prescription refills right on our website without ever having to call or step a foot in the clinic! You can use our Rx refill request form to submit your request. After we receive the request, we will contact you to confirm shipping details so we can have it sent directly to you if you prefer.
